Contraceptive Guidelines

The effect of any study drug on the developing foetus is often unknown. Thus, every effort must be made to ensure that pregnancy does not occur during a clinical trial and for a period after the clinical trial. You will always be given specific advice about contraception for every study that you decide to participate in.

Contraceptive advice for male volunteers
This advice is generally given for the majority of our studies. Male volunteers should ensure that their partners do not become pregnant during the study period and for 12 weeks after the last dose of the study drug. It is essential that effective contraception should continue during this time.
Contraceptive advice for female volunteers
You will receive advice relevant to each study. An established form of contraception must be used before entering into any study. Some studies may require 2 forms of contraception to be used. A pregnancy test will be carried out before, during and after the completion of the study.
